"One wonders if they just woke up and realized the world is neither consistentantly wonderful nor ultimately fair and thus pissed when people make different choices than they would."

Sounds like a lame philisophical justification for baby killing Jody. If the best argument you have against pro-life movements is "that's ubsurd", you are a sad little man indeed.

Jody,

Not sure to which "they" you are directing your comments. If the "they" is me, no, I didn't wake up from a _jaded_ existence and then get mad when someone makes a decision counter to mine. I'm in no way lost nor do I believe that the world is consistently wonderful or always fair ... and, I am not naive, as I believe you have inferred in your post (the result of your trackback to this post). Pro-abortionists have made it easy to kill an unborn child and I'm not pissed - it's their soul at risk not mine.

I'll restate - promulgating the pro-abortion position makes it easier to kill the unborn. People now are more apt to be cavalier about having sexual intercourse. Once the woman is pregnant the die is cast. Is everyone wandering around in a sheltered bubble thinking that nothing is the result from sexual intercourse?

There are joys, and consequences, but if you realize that you are doing something that can bring a life into this world, shouldn't there be a greater respect for that "process"? It's like smoking, or drinking, or target shooting - there are joys and consequences and they all can affect someone else.

It's just that pro-abortion folks do not consider the fetus someone else. And, there's the rub, because I do. Again, this is, I am sure, where we part or see things differently.

Thanks to ALL of you for continuing on and reading this post. :)

It's odd because in response to this thread, over at Christ Matters, the person that I was "talking" to misunderstand my, "By your hand..." statement. She assumed I meant that _she herself_ would have killed that unborn child. The important point here is that by promulgating the pro-abortion position, the ease someone will approach this matter becomes a quick-fix to life's challenge.

Yes, very touching.

And I too love to read the conviction of Highboy's beliefs.

A true post, and a touching one Fix. Unfortunatley, the debate is still raging over there, and I tell you it sickens me to what our society tolerates. When humanity is being used as a political tool, we need to stop playing politics.

Damsel says "Children bring their own love - to deprive yourself of that love is tragic. And selfish."

We both enjoyed reading this post -- it brought lumps to our throats and tears to our eyes. Our kids have left the nest but they still bring us the "spiders."
